My name is Tenko and I am from Bulgaria. I’ve been fascinated by photography since being a kid, but I started shooting seriously at the age of 22. Since then I’ve been constantly trying to improve my skills. But I am not a photographer in the real sense of it, I’m an amateur so to speak. I do it as a hobby and I’ve never shot anything for compensation :) Which is also great for me, as it gives me the ability to shoot exactly what I want to, and not what somebody else tells me.
Camera & Equipment Tenko uses:
My main camera gear is Canon EOS 5D Mark III, and since I shoot mostly portraiture, I also have most of the prime lens to support my camera. The 5D Mark III supports my shooting style very well, as I love to shoot at wide-open aperture and on ISO, which the Canon handles superbly well. From my lens, I mostly love the 85/1.2L and the 135/2L.
As a backup camera, I use the Sony RX100, which is also very convenient for traveling and landscape photography.
Things he likes most about portrait photography
To be honest with you, I can’t do landscapes, cause I’m lazy. I can’t wake up at 4 and travel to the deepest mud, just to get a shot right. Although I can do the absolute same thing at lunchtime shooting portraits :) I’ve never loved shooting anything else more than doing portraits. It’s all about the emotion, the look, the face, the reflection of the soul.. I don’t know, there are so many things I like about it that it’s really hard to tell.
Being a photographer his proudest moment
Seeing people who love my work.
From the hundreds of awesome photographers, I follow on DeviantArt, 500px, and many other photo sites. The Internet has made everything so accessible and easy, that inspiration is the least of my problems.
Here are few glimpses of some of Tenko’s past work for your weekly dose of inspiration.
