5 Photography Contests You Must Apply ASAP

As a photographer, you need to get a competitive edge over your peers. This can only be possible when you enter contests and find where you stand. Leica Photography Content 2014

The Leica photography contest is open for all professional photographers who wish to carve their own niche in the world of photography. You can apply for this contest online and submit your pictures right from December 15, 2013, till January 31, 2014. There is a lot of time still left for the contest and you can send in your best entry here.

The winner of the main category would be rewarded with 10,000 Euros of cash prize along with premium grade M camera and lens by Leica (valued at 10,000 Euros). There is another category for emerging talents who are aged 25 or less. They also get Leica products with a 5,000 Euro cash prize. The Leica Oskar Barnack Public Award will also be presented for the first time this year. This award would be presented in collaboration with a jury consisting of members from www.i-shot.com. Winners would get 2,500 Euro cash prize.

Sony World Photography Awards 2014

The Sony World Photography Awards is an open competition that would be presenting awards in 10 different categories, each themed for a particular photo style. The last date of submission for this contest is January 6th, 2014. The contest is free to enter. You can enter up to 3 pictures as a basic member, 8 as Advanced Members, and 20 pictures as a premium member. Winners get $5,000 cash prize, DSLR equipment from Sony, and global exposure on the WPO website.

World Press Photo

The entries for the World Press Photo contest have already started. You can be a part of this contest by registering online and submitting your entries before 15th January 23.59 CET, 2014. You need a username and password on this website to register. The contest offers the greatest level of real-time exposure to the photographers as the winning pictures are exhibited in over 100 cities across 45 nations. The prizes would be announced on 14th February 2014.

First prize winners get € 1,500 cash prize and a Golden Eye Award is presented to those who receive an honorable mention. If awarded the World Press Photo of the Year, a cash prize of 10,000 Euros would be given along with the professional camera and lens kits from Canon.

BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Contest

If you are an amateur wildlife photographer, you can become a part of this contest. Age is no bar and a host of prizes are given for different categories, even for emerging young photographers in their teens. Photographers under 17 years of age get a free entry while all others pay 30 Euros for entry.

Prize money of 10,000 Euros is to be received by the winners along with a photo feature in the Wildlife magazine by BBC. The last date for submitting your entries is 27th February 2014.

iPhone Photography Awards

The contest is open to all who like to click with their mobile devices. Compete for iPad Air, Gold Bars, and an honorable mention by the Jury. You can submit your entries by 31st March 2014. The winner would be getting the title of the IPPA Photographer of the Year and the top 3 would get 16 GB Wi-Fi iPad Air. The top entries in all 16 categories would be getting gold bars.
